Research Expeditions

FINNARP 2023 Absolute gravity and geodetic measurements in Aboa and at the nearby glacier. Upgrade of Aboa's permanent GPS station to a new GNSS station to improve the data coverage and resilience of the station. Installation of two passive reflectors for Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellites at the station area.

FINNARP 2022 LAS3R project to determine the surface roughness of snow and sea ice in Antarctica using laser scanning technologies to develop satellite-based albedo and altimetry observations in Aboa and Rampen. Geological studies to investigate the events of an ancient volcanic giant eruption in the Vestfjella mountains. Ice load measurements aboard SA Agulhas II in the Weddell Sea.
